Guide Dog Puppy Raising
Basically I'm looking for anyone who is willing to raise a guide dog puppy from a young age (irl 7-8 weeks) until they are grown up (irl 12-14 months). You will keep the pup for a month, after which you would age it up to an adult and send the adult file back to me.
Criteria for being a puppy raiser:
• The pup should not be left alone for more than three hours a day.
• Applicants should have a fully enclosed safe garden and their own transport. (It is acceptable for a pup to be in a large open space as long as it is always accompanied by someone that can keep it out of trouble)
• Any children in the family should be of school age.
• The pup needs to sleep indoors and be house trained.
• The pup needs to be walked daily on a lead without pulling, ignoring distractions such as other animals and scents.
• Should be socialised with other animals
• Should be introduced to social places such as parks, shopping centres, train stations and cityscapes
• When the pup is fully grown they will be returned to the guide dog centre where they will be trained and eventually paired up with a visually impaired person (sim)
If you think that you are able to meet all the above criteria please fill out a form here and if you are accepted then you will be given a puppy to raise.
